Your website ranks. People are landing on it. And the phone in your shop hasn’t rung all week.

If you run an appliance repair business and that’s been your last month or two, you’re not doing anything wrong, and you’re not losing your mind. Getting visitors and getting calls are two separate problems, and almost nobody explains that before you’ve already paid for a few months of traffic that never turned into work.

TL;DR: Short version: traffic without calls is a conversion problem, not a traffic problem. Somewhere between someone finding your site and someone picking up the phone, something’s breaking, and it’s usually one of a handful of fixable things. Below is a ten-minute self-check, plus what genuinely sustained visibility looks like when the fundamentals are built right from the start.

Why Traffic Numbers Lie to You

Nobody explains this part when you hire an agency for SEO or Google Ads: a traffic number is easy to hand you, and easy for you to feel good about. It went up, so something must be working, right? But a visit isn’t a customer, and if your agency only ever shows you traffic and never shows you calls, they’re showing you the number that’s easy to report, not the one that actually matters to your business.

Appliance repair companies run into this constantly. Visits climb, the bill stays the same, the phone doesn’t. Ask why, and you get the standard line: “SEO takes time,” “the algorithm’s still learning.” Fair enough, for a couple of months. Half a year later with the same excuse and nothing new to show for it, you’ve spent real money with nothing to show but a bigger traffic number.

Check These Five Things Right Now

Run through these on your own site right now. Pull up your website on your phone. Is your number visible without scrolling? If someone has to hunt for it, most won’t bother. They’ll hit the back button and call the next result instead.

If you’re running Google Ads, click one of your own ads. Does it land on your homepage, or does it land on a page built for the exact repair someone just searched? Sending “refrigerator repair” traffic to a generic homepage is one of the most common mistakes we see, and one of the most expensive.

Time your mobile load speed. Past three seconds, you’re losing people before they’ve seen anything at all.

Does your site say where you actually work? If you cover a specific service area and that’s not stated clearly, both Google and the person reading are left guessing. That’s exactly what local SEO is supposed to fix.

And look at your call-to-action. “Contact Us” doesn’t match the urgency of someone whose refrigerator just died. “Call Now for Same-Day Service” does.

What Real Visibility Looks Like Over Time

Not every fix is about finding a hidden problem. Sometimes it’s about doing the fundamentals right from day one and staying consistent for years. That’s the story of iFiX, one of our longest-running clients.

iFiX has been with us since 2018. When they first came on, they were a small, relatively unknown appliance repair shop competing against companies that had been established for decades longer. There was no dramatic bug to find and fix here. It started small: a logo, a business card, a truck wrap, then a full website, then ongoing SEO management.

Within the first year, that foundation alone made a real difference. In owner Jonathan Baker’s own words at the time: “In less than one year he has made me competitive with businesses that have been around much longer.”

That’s not an accident. It’s what happens when the basics, a clear site, a findable phone number, pages built around what people are actually searching for, are handled correctly from day one instead of patched together after the fact.

Eight years later, that relationship is still going. iFiX now pulls in more than 3,300 calls and 25,000 visitors a year. Not from one clever trick. From a foundation built right the first time and maintained consistently since. You can read more of what clients have said about working with us on our reviews page.

The Bottom Line

Here’s the straight version. Patience in month one or two is fair; building real visibility takes a little time. If your agency is still leaning on “more time” or “more budget” six months in, with nothing else actually changing, that’s stopped being patience. That’s stalling, and you’re the one paying for it.

If your traffic doesn’t add up to calls and you can’t get a straight answer why, that’s worth actually looking into instead of guessing for another month. Schedule a quick call and we’ll go through what’s really happening on your site.
